EIDS Series is the new low torque electric screwdriver from Desoutter, designed to meet the highest requirements of high‑precision and safety‑critical assembly application. It delivers consistent tightening quality while adapting seamlessly to a wide range of production environments.

  • Very high accuracy (5%) across the full torque range (Cmin to Cmax, ISO 5393 and VDI/VDE 2647) for consistent tightening quality and to avoid recalls and scrap
  • Wide torque range reducing complexity:
    • EIDS: 0.2 Nm to 16 Nm
    • EADS: 2 Nm to 22 Nm
  • High torque ratio per tool enables more applications with fewer tools, reducing tooling base and inventory

Features Supporting Quality, Usability & Protection

Reporting and Event LEDs

  • Rear LEDs (EIDS and EADS):
    • Reporting: the combination of front and rear reporting LEDs ensures clear, always‑visible feedback for the operator, with no extra effort required. This increases productivity and reduces errors.
    • Specific events: some LEDs are configurable to indicate specific events, for example "tool ready", "tool in cycle", "maintenance alert" and more.
  • Front LEDs (EIDS only):
    • Lighting and reporting: the front LEDs are positioned close to the tightening area for optimal lighting and reporting.

Removable Cable

  • The new EIDS Series comes with a cable that is now removable — making installation and tool changes on workstations incredibly fast and convenient.
  • The EIDS series shares the same cable as the EPD range.

eCompass Function

  • eCOMPASS uses an on‑board gyroscope to compensate for tool movement in real time, ensuring precise tightening and consistent joint quality, even when caused by the operator.
  • This makes it ideal for handheld tools in difficult positions or when angle tolerances are critical.

Electrostatic Protected Areas Compliant

  • The EIDS tool is EPA‑compliant and fully ESD‑safe, meaning it is designed for use in Electrostatic Protected Areas (EPA) without generating harmful electrostatic discharges.
  • It prevents electrostatic discharge that could damage sensitive components, ensuring reliable operation and full compatibility with protected environments.

Cleanroom

  • Cleanrooms prevent microscopic contamination that can compromise performance. Noncompliant tools introduce particles that damage precision components and affect product integrity.
  • Using proper tools, along with the right protocols ensures controlled conditions and guarantees reliability and safety.

EIDS SERIES IS ESD-CERTIFIED

Desoutter offers ESD-certified screwdrivers in its standard range, widely used in the electronics industry. The EIDS series (EIDS and EADS) protect sensitive components from electrostatic discharge (ESD), which can cause invisible damage, reduce reliability, or lead to costly failures and warranty issues if no Electrostatic Protected Area (EPA) is in place.

Certified to IEC 61340-5-1 by SP, the Swedish National Testing and Research Institute, the EIDS series will never hold an electrostatic potential above 100 V for more than 2 seconds, ensuring maximum protection for your components.
