OSAAP Shadow Boards: Why Organization Matters

If employees repeatedly have to ask:

"Where is it?"

"Who has it?"

"Does this belong here?"

"Are we out?"

You probably don't have a people problem.

You have an information problem.

A well-designed shadow board answers those questions without requiring a supervisor.

The location is obvious.

The correct tool is obvious.

A missing tool is obvious.

What belongs at the workstation is obvious.

That is what good visual management should do:

Make the right condition easier to recognize and maintain.

Before adding another procedure, ask whether the workspace itself could communicate the standard.
