How to Calibrate a Bosch Exact Ion Tool

How to Calibrate a Bosch Exact Ion Tool

Here we will show you how to set up and calibrate a Bosch Exact Ion Tool with a step by step walkthrough. A video walkthrough is shown at the end of the blog.

Items you'll need

  • Bosch Exact Ion Tool
  • Bosch battery pack
  • Hex bit
  • Calibration Unit
  • Calibration Key

Setting up the calibration

Before you can start calibrating your Bosch tool, you'll need a safe area to calibrate. First, secure your calibration unit to a stable table so that the unit doesn't spin when you use the tool. After securing your calibration unit, turn it on to confirm that it works and set it to the correct settings. Once it turns on, set up the head of the calibration unit with a screw. ( AND WHATEVER ELSE THIS IS CALLED)

After securing your calibration unit make sure that your Bosch battery pack is fully charged and you have inserted the hex bit into the Bosch Exact Ion tool. Now you're ready to calibrate!

Calibrating a Bosch Exact Ion Tool

To calibrate the tool you first need to insert the hex bit into the screw at the top of the calibration unit. Next, you'll want to make sure that the tool is not tilting in any direction, it may skew the results. Once you make sure that the tool is not tilting, use the screwdriver to screw in the screw and record the number that displays on the calibration unit. Be sure to unscrew the screw afterwards.

From there slide back the cover near the head of the tool and take out the hex bit, insert the calibration key into the tool head and turn the key so that the spring inside spins and shows an indent for the calibration key. Next, insert the calibration key into the indent and turn it left (to lower the torque) or right (to raise the torque).

After adjusting the torque, insert the hex bit back into the tool and remove the calibration key. It's time to test the torque on the calibration unit again. After you test it and get the new torque number, adjust your tool accordingly until it is at the desired torque measurement!

Once your Bosch Exact Ion tool and calibration unit is showing the wanted torque you have finished calibrating your Bosch tool!

Can other tools be calibrated?

Yes! There are many other tools and brands that can be calibrated, from Cleco to Sturtevant Richmont to Desoutter. Despite these tools being capable of being calibrated, they are all done in different ways, be sure to check out our other tutorials on how to calibrate them!
