Bosch: How to Read Bosch Date Code Serial Numbers for Warranty on Production (Blue) Line Tools
Bosch Date Codes
All 9 digit Bosch Professional (blue) line tool serial numbers start with 3 numbers that are there as a date code to tell you what year and month the tool was manufactured. Knowing how to read this code can be helpful when determining things such as warranty time frame. If you're a business and own a lot of these tools or even if you only own one tool for projects around the house, it can be hard to remember exactly when you bought your tool(s). Having the date code inside the serial number can help you figure out if your tool is still within it's warranty window. At the bottom of this page there are several tables with all the different variations of what month and year those 3 numbers correlate with.
Example
In the image below you can see 2 different sets of numbers being highlighted. The first is the product number for the tool, which is usually different from the model name. In this case the model name is GSR18V-85C and the product number is 3601JG0100. The second set of numbers being highlighted is the serial number of the specific tool which in this case is 709002180. If we wanted to check this tool check this tools manufacture date, we would look at the first 3 numbers of that serial number, in this case it is "709". Then, we can reference our charts down below and see that "709" means it was made September of 2017.
