Lighting & Indication with IO-Link

Models with IO-Link communication enable an almost limitless capacity for custom indication. IO-Link gives full access to individual LED control, color, flash, intensity, and animation settings, as well as advanced operating modes for displaying distance, count, time, and position.

IO-Link Masters: Key Advantages

Compact Form Factor

Banner's IO-Link masters feature a compact, lightweight housing, which helps for weight-sensitive applications such as robotic end-of-arm tooling. Unique mounting brackets are available to stack multiple IO-Link masters in one area while minimizing the overall footprint.

Scalable Design to Accommodate Expanding Production

Banner's IO-Link masters can accommodate IO-Link signal collection for IIoT implementation on a large scale, but they also offer a cost-effective solution for users who only have a small count of IO-Link devices. This approach gives users the flexibility to start on a smaller scale and add more IO-Link connectivity as their operations expand over time.

Seamless Device Replacement

If devices connected to the IO-Link masters need to be replaced due to damage or any other reason, the device can be swapped out with an identical part, and the IO-Link master will auto-recognize and rapidly configure the new sensor with the correct sensor settings for the application. Because IO-Link sensors do not require any special or complicated wiring, they can be connected to the new IO-Link masters using cost-effective industry standard unshielded three-wire M12 cables.

Powerful Edge Processing in a Lightweight, Compact Package

Banner’s newest controller, the DXMR110-8K 8-Port IO-Link Master consolidates, processes, and distributes IO-Link data from multiple sources. Cloud connectivity and advanced programming and logic capabilities aid data consumption and automation process optimization. The DXMR110-8K can communicate with higher level control systems via EtherNet/IP, Modbus/TCP, and PROFINET. Its compact size, minimal weight, and convenient cordset placement offers system designers many options.

Compact Programmable IO-Link Master with Ethernet

The DXMR90-4K IO-Link Master allows collection of factory data from IO-Link devices and sends it directly to cloud systems, PLCs, SCADAs, and HMIs. Both a part of the Snap Signal smart-factory ecosystem and compatible with industry standard IO-Link devices, it combines signals from four IO-Link ports and outputs process and diagnostic data via EtherNet/IP, Modbus/TCP, and PROFINET. The DXMR90-4K is also a self-contained controller offering custom programmability.

Compact, Simple Processing and Control at the Edge

The R45C-2K-MQ IO-Link Master connects to IO-Link devices and serves as a gateway to a Snap Signal IIoT system, or other control systems on the market. The IO-Link master transmits machine data, process parameters, and diagnostic information via Modbus RTU, which can connect directly to any Modbus RTU interface, including the Snap Signal DXMR90 Industrial Controller. This configuration makes it possible to send IO-Link data to cloud platforms and SCADA systems.

Simple Edge Processing and Control for Larger Applications

The R90C-4K-MQ IO-Link Master contains all the same features as the R45C-2K-MQ, but with two additional IO-Link ports to accommodate larger IO-Link applications.

  • Connects up to four IO-Link devices and provides access via Ethernet or serial interface
  • Rugged design; easy installation with no assembly or individual wiring required
  • M12 male quick disconnect power connector
  • M12 female quick disconnect IO-Link and communication connectors
  • Built-in status indication for IO-Link master ports
  • Built-in indication for Ethernet and serial connection status
  • Rugged over-molded design meets  IP65, IP67, and IP68

Improve Productivity with Actionable Data

Snap Signal is an easily deployable, complete portfolio of modular IIoT hardware and software that delivers actionable machine data from across your factory. More than just another flavor of IIoT, Snap Signal is an overlay network that can capture data signals from virtually any source. It seamlessly converts these sources to a single industry-standard protocol, then distributes the data for quick and easy consumption. Snap Signal offers you the flexibility to monitor key equipment within one area or monitor your whole facility.

Key Benefits

There are many advantages to using an IO-Link system, including standardized wiring, remote configuration, simple device replacement, advanced diagnostics, and increased data availability. Because IO-Link systems are open standard, the devices can be integrated in almost any fieldbus or automation system.

Remote Monitoring

The IO-Link Master transmits data over various networks, fieldbuses, or backplane buses, making that data accessible for immediate action or long-term analysis via a controller such as a PLC or HMI. This gives users more information about their devices and enables remote monitoring of machine performance.

Reduced Costs and Increased Efficiency

Together, the capabilities afforded by IO-Link result in reduced costs, increased process efficiency, and improved machine availability. These benefits are especially significant in applications that have frequent changeovers and are heavily influenced by extended and unplanned machine downtime.

Simplified Wiring

IO-Link sensors do not require any special or complicated wiring. Rather, IO-Link sensors can be connected using cost-effective standard three-core cables. In addition, IO-Link also eliminates the need for analog sensors and reduces the variety of interfaces for sensors, which saves inventory costs.
